Main Street

The stars and stripes of Old Glory is a theme carried out in the "turn-of-the century" - inspired rendition of an American Main Street located in La Villita's Plaza Nacional and extending to the adjacent fountain area next to Bolivar Hall. White gingerbread motifs add architectural charm to the red, white and blue-painted booths, bandstand and gazebo. Gentlemen in their striped vest and garters, along with aproned ladies, serve All-American favorites including: Banana Splits, Flat Bread, and Fried Green Tomatoes. With one stage of entertainment, visitors often break-in their dancing shoes as soon as the first trumpet blows from the Dixieland jazz stage, and everyone joins in with a sing-along as the good-time garbage band cranks out Americana tunes.
