South of the Border

Regional foods of Northern Mexico and South Texas are featured in festively decorated, canopied booths along the major walkway of Villita Street. Imitating the roadside vendor stands in Mexico, senors and senoritas in brightly colored traditional apparel sell their foods and merchandise in the serape-draped stands. Along with Aguacates (fresh avocado halves filled with sour cream and spicy sauce), Pollo Ranchero (chicken skewered and barbequed), visitors can enjoy the Beef Tacos, Queso Flamando, and Chicken Tamala's.
